Does Landworks provide a free estimate on my landscape project?

Yes. Landworks provides a free estimate for all potential customers.

When is the best time to plant?

Generally, most landscapers will plant materials all year around, provided the ground is not frozen. Oak trees, Red Buds, and Sweet Gums will respond best when dug and planted in the spring. However, there are some plants that timelines must be met – bulbs, perennials and annuals.

What type of warranty does Landworks provide to their customers?

Landworks will warranty trees and shrubs for one (1) full year from the date of installation as long as normal horticultural practices are met. Replacement plants shall be of the same size, quality and species as specified at the time of the original planting, unless both parties agree that another species may be a better option. Landworks warranty will cover one (1) replacement per original planting. Landworks warranty does not cover sod and seed areas.

Landworks warranty does not cover over/under-watering, chemicals, pests, abnormal weather conditions, or other factors beyond our control.

Landworks warranties all hardscape materials, including retaining walls and paver patios for three (3) full years from the date of installation. Warranty does not cover naturally occurring efflorescence of product, natural imperfections, rust deposits, stains, or any damage due to uncontrollable circumstances, weather elements or damage done by acts of nature.

Does Landworks provide landscape maintenance services?

Yes. Landworks is a full-service lawn care company. Landscaping services include: design, installation, outdoor lighting, retaining walls, grading, mulching, pruning, and tree and shrub trimming. Please refer to our Services Page for a complete listing of the services we provide to our customers.

I have dry patches in my yard. How can I fix this?

Sprinkler system coverage problems generally show themselves in the form of dry patches of grass. Coverage problems may be due to improper installation (system initially installed without proper coverage) or the irrigation heads are clogged or not turning properly. Landworks can evaluate your irrigation system and give you the most economical solution to your problem.

How do I know when I’m over-watering my lawn?

Over-watering your lawn can be detected in many ways. If you have water running down your curb lines, areas of puddles in your lawn or landscaping, or an excessively high water bill, you may be over-watering your lawn. Landworks can perform a water audit that will identify the optimum rate of water usage needed for your lawn.

What is Core Aeration?

Core aeration removes “cores” of soil. Aeration involves making holes in the lawn either by pushing a rod into it or extracting a plug of soil. This process breaks up thatch, relieves soil compaction and improves water, nutrient & oxygen movement in the soil. The build-up of lawn thatch makes it difficult for your lawn to breathe. (Thatch is a spongy layer of light-brown matter that resembles peat moss located between the soil & grass) Lawn aeration helps control thatch.

What is Overseeding?

Overseeding is simply applying seed over the top of your lawn, preferably after the core aeration process. Over-seeding regularly as part of your standard maintenance of a healthy yard keeps your turf thick & dense.

What is Slit Seeding?

Slit seeding is a process where a machine will open the soil and deposit seed directly into the soil opening. This procedure is typically recommended when turf conditions are poor (large bare spots, heavy disease or damage).

What is a Rain Bird Select Contractor?

By choosing a Rain Bird Select Contractor, you can count on receiving the highest level of care and attention to your specific irrigation and sprinkler system needs, a water-efficient design and a high quality installation of Rain Bird products. Every Rain Bird Select Contractor has been in business at least three (3) years and specializes in the installation and maintenance of quality residential and commercial systems.

Does Landworks only install Rain Bird products?

No. Landworks installs, repairs and maintains all types of irrigation products, including Rain Bird and Hunter.

Will an automatic sprinkler system use more water than I am currently using?

No. An automatic sprinkler system may actually save you water. A well designed, efficient system applies exactly the amount of water needed by your landscape. A rain sensor installed with your system will know when it is raining and automatically turn itself off when watering is not needed.

How much will a sprinkler system cost?

The price of a system depends upon many factors such as property size, type of landscaping, number of zones, products used and special designs. Make sure you hire a qualified contractor to install your new system. Low bidders may not be licensed or insured and may use cost-cutting techniques that may jeopardize your lawn and may require costly repairs in the future.

Why should Landworks turn on my irrigation system in the spring?

Landworks will perform a head-to-head, zone-by-zone analysis of your irrigation system. We will locate and repair all leaks and make the appropriate adjustments for optimum coverage. We will guarantee your irrigation system is operating at full performance at the time of your turn on.

Why should Landworks turn off (winterize) my irrigation system before the winter season?

Winterizing your irrigation system is essential to avoid freezing pipes during the cold season. Incurring the cost of repairs to your irrigation system, as well as damaging your lawn/landscaping, may be costly. Winterizing your irrigation system is a minor expense compared to the possible alternatives.

What should I do when I have a water leak in my irrigation system?

If the leak is constant (leaking when the system is not in actual operation) the system should be shut off at the point of connection. If the leak is not constant (only leaking when the system is in operation) turn the time off on the particular zone. If any type of leak is found, call Landworks we will respond within 24 hours and schedule your repair at your convenience.

What should I do if I have broken sprinkler heads in my irrigation system?

Broken sprinkler heads don’t always need to be replaced. Sprinkler heads not turning could be due to debris inside the gears or nozzles, therefore just needing to be cleaned. “Fountains” located at the sprinkler head could be caused by missing nozzles. A missing nozzle is separate from the sprinkler head itself and much less expensive to correct than replacing the entire sprinkler head. Landworks experienced team of professionals can evaluate your sprinkler heads for the best action to take on repairing your system.
